Bahama Shutters Bahama shutters are permanently mounted with a continuous hinge on the top of the shutter. An adjustable arm keeps the shutter open to form a sunshade or louvered awning. Standard bahama shutters protect interiors from sun and keep homes cooler; plus, as an added benefit they will reduce heat gain on the western side of a building by 20%. With the threat of hurricane winds, the pins on the adjustable arms are removed and the shutters fold down. Bolts which have already been installed by Hurricane Shutters of Key West are used to secure the shutter flat against the building. Colonial Shutters There are two types of Colonial Shutters.
